2007-2008 Season Announcement
Ovation Announces Its Engaging 10th Season
Parallel Lives
Celebrating 10 years in Cincinnati, Ovation kicks off the season with the off-Broadway show stopping performance of Parallel Lives: The Kathy & Mo Show. In this take-no-prisoners comedy two women take on a multitude of roles from Supreme Beings creating the Universe to women navigating work place fashion. This satirical romp through the complexities of life as a modern woman will have the audience holding their sides while asking “We’ve come such a long way baby...Or have we?”
And Then They Came For Me
Ovation invites its audience on a moving journey with James Still’s And Then They Came For Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank. Oral history, dramatic action, and remembrance come together to tell the story of three Jewish teenagers: Anne Frank, Ed Silverberg and Eve Geiringer, all who are living in fear under the reign of the Nazis during World War II. This unique experience weaves videotaped interviews, multi media and live actors to evoke the very real characters behind the story. And Then They Came For Me asks the question: Why did this happen? Could the holocaust happen today?

This Is How It Goes
Ovation proudly brings its audience the regional premiere of Neil LaBute’s, This Is How It Goes. Belinda and Cody’s delicately balanced relationship is interrupted when the return of an old high school friend reminds them of everything they were. This Is How It Goes is a thought provoking story with unexpected twists and turns in every scene. With a truth that shifts with each startling revelation, This is How it Goes will keep its audience on the edge of their seats questioning their own stories and our collective ability to discern truth from fiction.

Artistic Director Alana Ghent says of the season: “We’re really committed to finding new ways to engage our audience. These works provide exciting ways to make the theatrical experience compelling and interactive. They demand dialogue, and incite response. We think that’s an important part of what theatre should do. We’re also adding what I think of as ‘co-theatrical programming.’ We will have opportunities like Dinner with The Director, and post-show discussions that help us reach out and continue the discussion beyond the theatre.”
Ovation will also continue its new play development initiative. Currently, actors are working to develop two new works to be unveiled in the spring and summer of 2008.
